Pinal Creek is located in the Ventana Wilderness Area of the Los Padres National Forest near Monterey, California. Found in the area is at least one rockshelter and a large number of bedrock mortars.
The trailhead is the same as the one for Wagon Cave. For turn-by-turn directions enter 36.08404, -121.40096 into your driving app. From Jolon you will follow the Mission Road for 7.8 miles before turning left onto Del Venturi Road and following that for the remaining 11.5 miles to the trailhead.
From the trailhead find your way over to Pinal Creek and begin exploring all the boulders and granite outcrops in the area. Carefully search any alcoves and overhangs for pictographs.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
