Santa Lucia Creek is located in the Ventana Wilderness Area of the Los Padres National Forest near Monterey, California. Found in the area is at least one rockshelter and large numbers of bedrock mortars.
For turn-by-turn directions enter 36.08574, -121.42139 into your driving app. From Jolon you will follow the Mission Road for 7.8 miles before turning left onto Del Venturi and following that for the remaining 13.2 miles. Turn left and continue another 0.6 miles to the trailhead. There are actually several places where you could park and begin exploring. Many of the mortars will be found on top of the short ridge.
