Hole in the Wall Petroglyphs

GPS planning file and map.

The Hole in the Wall Petroglyphs are located southeast of Baker, California in the Mojave National Preserve.

To get there, take I-15 Exit 272, which is 26 miles east of Baker. Head south on the Cima Road. Continue for 17.6 miles to Cima and then turn right onto the Kelso Cima Road. In 4.6 miles turn left onto the Cedar Canyon Road. (There should be signs at this point directing the way to Hole in the Wall.) Follow the Cedar Canyon Road for 6 miles and turn right onto the Black Canyon Road. In another 9.8 miles arrive at Hole in the Wall. If you were coming from the south off of I-40 you would turn north at Exit 100 onto the Essex-Black Canyon Road from where it would be a straight shot of only 19.9 miles to the trailhead.

From the trailhead follow the Ring Loop to the left for the shortest route to the petroglyphs which will be on volcanic tuft boulders at the base of the hill about 4 tenths of a mile from the trailhead.

Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
