The Rainbow Vista trail is located in the Valley of Fire State Park near Overton, Nevada. The trail follows a short loop through a small valley at the head of Fire Canyon where colorful pink and purple striations in the lighter colored sandstone create pleasant surroundings for a short hike. Several small arches, petroglyphs and scenic views of the deep red colors of Fire Canyon are equally appealing attractions.

The Natural Arches trail is located in the Valley of Fire State Park near Overton, Nevada. Traveling up the scenic Fire Canyon Wash the primitive trail passes numerous small arches which are a common feature of the park.

The Valley of Fire State Park, near Overton, Nevada, has several short trails where visitors can get up close looks of petrified logs that were created from trees that were present in the area 150 million years ago. This post covers the Petrified Logs trail on the west side of the park.

Petroglyph Canyon is located in the Valley of Fire State Park near Overton, Nevada. Within the short scenic canyon hikers are treated to hundreds of petroglyphs that were pecked and etched into the patina that covers many of the smoother surfaces of the canyons sandstone cliffs and rocky fins. The trail ends at a large pothole known as Mouse's Tank that is nestled in a narrow crevice above a spillover.

The Mouse's Tank Picnic area is located along the White Domes Road in the Valley of Fire State Park near Overton, Nevada. The site, which has scores of petroglyphs,  sits at the mouth of Petroglyph Canyon where there are hundreds, and maybe even thousands, of additional petroglyphs. This group of petroglyphs near the picnic area are probably the easiest to access in the park as all they require is a short stroll to view close up and no stairs to climb like Atlatl Rock.
