The Sheep Spring Petroglyphs are located southwest of Ridgecrest, CA in the El Paso Mountains. The site includes 2 separate areas where there are petroglyphs and a large rock circle.
There are several routes that will get you to Sheep Spring depending upon from where you are coming. From Ridgecrest drive south on China Lake Blvd. to US-395. Cross the highway and turn west on Brown Road. After 3.8 miles turn left onto Wiknich Road, EP-26?. Follow this for 2.1 miles to the Mesquite Canyon Road. Turn south for 3.1 miles to the trailhead. Petroglyphs can be found just past the picnic area and at another site a little to the north. A large rock ring can be found on the mesa above the picnic area.
