The Dragon Wash Petroglyphs are located near Hayfield, California just outside of the Joshua Tree Wilderness Area. Petroglyphs can be found a short distance up the wash and along the Powerline or Hayfield Road.
For turn-by-turn directions to the mouth of Dragon Wash enter 33.72687, -115.49824 into your driving app. From there hike up the left side of the wash for about 3/4 of a mile to a rocky outcrop where you should be able to spot some petroglyphs. After that continue to follow the Hayfield or Powerline Road northeast to where you should be able to spot a rock wall that stretches up the side of the hill. Along the way you might be able to spot a few more petroglyphs.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
