Rock Spring Petroglyphs

GPS planning file and map.

The Rock Spring Petroglyphs are located in the Mojave National Preserve southeast of Baker, California. Petroglyphs can be found in the wash a short distance from the trailhead along a half mile loop. From photos that we have seen the petroglyphs were a little faint.

To get there from the north take I-15 Exit 286. Follow the Nipton Road for 3.4 miles, turn right onto the Ivanpah Road and continue for 29.8 miles and turn right onto the Cedar Canyon Road. Follow the Cedar Canyon Road for 10.3 miles and turn left onto the Rock House Road and continue to the trailhead. From the parking area you should be able to find a social trail that loops down into the wash and on to Rock Spring before looping back to the trailhead. The petroglyphs are somewhere along the route through the wash.

Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
