The Morteros Village Pictographs are located in the Anza-Borrego State Park a short distance from the more well known Blair Valley Pictographs. Directions are a little sketchy but if you begin at the trailhead and hike about 800 feet or so the main trail bends to the left. At this point look for a large boulder about 10 feet high off to the right about 15 yards from the trail with a small boulder next to it. The smaller boulder has cupules ground into it and the larger boulder has some pictographs on its backside down near the ground. Further down the main trail another 100 feet or so is another mortero site that is marked on Google Maps. The Morteros trail continues on up the canyon but whether it leads to anything or not we haven't discovered.

Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
