The Ker-1 and Ker-15 sites are located in the area of Lake Isabella near Weldon, California. Ker-1 has a single boulder with a few faint pictographs while Ker-15 consists of several boulders with faint images. Both boulders fall just inside of the boundary of Sequoia National Forest.
For turn-by-turn directions to Ker-1 enter 35.67297, -118.34478 into your driving app. From CA-178 you will be directed up Sierra Way for 2.25 miles to where there is a driveway where you might be able to park off to the side. From there hike back along Sierra Way until you can find a spot to scramble up to the boulder which is in the streambed.
For Ker-15 continue on Sierra Way for another 0.45 miles to where there is a large pullout on the left. From there make your way down to the streambed and follow it for about 1,800 feet to the boulders.
For photos and a good descriptions for these sites and about 70 others in the Owens Valley you can download Bill Petry's PDF Rock Art of the Owens Valley or, if you can find one, purchase a copy from eBay.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
