The Sand Hill Petroglyphs are located along the rim of the Vermilion Cliffs overlooking US-89A about 17.5 miles west of Marble Canyon, Arizona. The part of the rim where they are found is called the Sand Hill Crack as it offers the only route through the cliffs from the valley floor. The options are to either climb the steep trail from the valley up through the rim of the cliffs or to drive around via the Pine Tree Road. To drive there, turn north off of US-89A onto the House Rock Road and follow it for 9.4 miles and turn right onto Pine Tree. Follow that for 13 miles and go right onto the Jarvis Road. After 1.1 miles go left onto the White Knl Road. In about 3.6 miles there should be a track that branches off on the right. Follow it as far as you can and walk the remainder of the way to the petroglyphs that are on the rim of the cliffs. (We don’t know whether there are actually signs for each of these roads that are named on the map.)
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
