The Roden Crater Area Ruins are located 24 miles north of Winona, Arizona. We found the 3 ruins marked on a topo map. When you zoom in on Google Earth Ruin 1 looks the best. To get there, go west from Winona on the Townsend-Winona Road for 2.14 miles and turn right onto Leupp Road for 8.9 miles and then left onto Forest Service Road 244A. Continue for 1.14 miles and go right onto Forest Road 244. In 2.33 miles stay right and after 6 more miles continue straight and find a place to park for the hike to Ruin 3. Basically, stay on the main road all the way. If you use a driving app like Google Maps it might direct you onto one of the many shorter routes but some of them can hardly even be considered roads.
The hike to Ruin 3 is just over 1,000 feet. After that drive on around to the other 2 ruins. Ruin 2 is only 127 feet from the road and Ruin 1 is about 1,020 feet.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
