Quail Point

GPS planning file and map.

Quail Point is located west of Gila Bend, Arizona between Sears Point and Oatman Point. The site includes petroglyphs around an old camp site and some on basalt boulders in the area. On top of the butte there is a 10 foot diameter stone circle that shows up on Google Earth.

To get there, take I-8 Exit 87 and drive northwest on the S Agua Caliente Road for about 7 miles and then go right onto a road that we don’t have a name for and follow it for another 7.5 miles. This road looks a little sketchy on satellite view so you might expect high clearance 4WD. After driving as far as possible, hike what will probably be a little over 1 mile and begin exploring. We aren’t sure whether the first waypoint is where there are actually some petroglyphs or whether it just shows where Quail Point is located. It might be easier to hike over from either the Rock Point or Oatman Point direction.

Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
