The Loy Butte Ruins and Petroglyphs are sites near Sedona, Arizona that we haven’t visited yet. As you hike along the canyon trail there are reportedly multiple ruins that are visible from the canyon floor as well as some rock art that is down in the canyon itself. The ruins that are up high require some scrambling to reach.
For turn-by-turn directions enter Loy Canyon Trailhead, Sedona’ into your driving app. From AZ-89A it will direct you onto Forest Road 525/Loy Butte Road. It should be about 9.5 miles of dirt roads that are passable by 2WD highway vehicles under dry conditions.
Note: The waypoints for the ruins are only approximations for Loy Canyon. Once we get the actual GPS coordinates ourselves we will correct them.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
