The Garden Canyon Pictographs is a site on the Fort Huachuca Military Reservation near Sierra Vista, Arizona that we haven't visited yet. Visitors must have a valid drivers license and current proof of insurance in order to obtain a base pass. (Current visitor information.) Access to the base is through the Van Deman Gate. To get there use your driving app or find your way to the Hatfield and Buffalo Soldier intersection. Proceed along Hatfield to the gate and stop in at the Visitor Center for your pass. From the Visitor Center there are multiple routes. The one recommended by Petry (Rock Art of Arizona) is to continue on Hatfield to Irwin, go left on Irwin to Winrow, go right on Winrow to the Garden Canyon Road, turn left on Garden Canyon and continue another 8.5(?) miles to the Garden Canyon Pictographs. Within a stroll of the Garden Canyon Pictographs there is apparently another site with a rock shelter and more pictographs called the Rappel Cliffs site.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
