The Chavez Pass Ruins and Petroglyphs is a site between Payson and Winslow, Arizona that we haven't visited yet. You can enter 'Chavez Pass Arizona' into your driving app for turn-by-turn directions. Other than that drive either 58 miles north of Payson on AZ-87 or 31 miles south from Winslow and turn north onto Forest Service Road 69. Continue for 6.2 miles to the trailhead where you can scramble up to the ruins. From the ruins you can cut across country for about 3/4 of a mile to some more petroglyphs.
Included with this post is the GPS file and map that we plan to use for our first visit. If you don't want to wait for us to get around to it feel free to try the GPS file and map for yourself. With no guarantee, of course, but they most often prove valuable for us.
