The Wizard trail is located in the Klonzo Mountain Biking Area north of Moab, Utah. The Wizard cuts across the Carousel loop which is located near the southern end of the Midway trail. The Carousel, Wizard, Magician and Gypsy trails are all part of a subgroup of trials especially built with beginning mountain bike riders in mind although most everyone seems to enjoy making a casual roll through the area.

For directions with getting to the Klonzo area in general refer to the Boondocks trail. For this post we began at the upper end of the Wizard trail after parking at the Midway trailhead off of Willow Springs Road and riding the Midway trail down to the Carousel trail.

The Wizard trail crosses mostly smooth slickrock with a few stretches of shallow dirt.

The 45 feet of elevation change is spread out evenly over the length of the trail. Going in this direction the Wizard trail is an easy downhill roll.

The trail can be traveled in either direction. For this post we rode it both ways so that we could ride the Magician beginning at the top. The way that the trails in the Carousel group are laid out you can ride up one and down another. We also threw the doubletrack road into the mix and rode it too. Out of the 3 trails that intersect the Carousel loop the Wizard is the smoothest. If you would like to see it for yourself then all you have to do is grab your bike or 'Take a hike'.
