The Split Rock Pueblito is located in the Dinetah area east of Bloomfield, New Mexico. Split Rock is named for the large cracked boulder it is located on and is practically inaccessible without the aid of a ladder or similar devise (BLM kiosk).
For turn-by-turn directions to the trailhead enter 36.45941, -107.50598 into your driving app. The trailhead is a half mile past the trailhead for the Tapicito Pueblito.
From the trailhead the route follows an old 4WD road.
The ruins as a whole are easier to see from a distance with the aid of binoculars.
The pueblito is made up of four irregular shaped rooms.
One of the rooms is on the right side of the split in the boulder looking at it from below.
Beneath a tree at the base of the cliff there is a kiosk with a nice diagram of the ruins and some interesting information.
When up close to the cliff there isn't much of the ruin that is visible. For this photo we walked back an hundred feet or so and climbed on top of a large rock. Still we could only see the single room on the right.
Even though it's hard to get up close to the Split Rock Pueblito it's well worth the little bit of extra time to see it if you are already in the area to explore the three other ruins (5 if you count Gould Pass and The Citadel) that are nearby plus whatever petroglyphs that you can find.
