Attractions: petroglyphs
The Rincon Largo Petroglyphs are located in the Carrizo Canyon area southeast of Bloomfield, New Mexico. Within a third of a mile stretch of the canyon we have identified 6 panels of petroglyphs, mostly containing various Navajo Yei images. (As Yei we are meaning images of gods, goddesses, or other important people or spirits.)
For turn-by-turn directions to the mouth of Rincon Largo Canyon enter 36.59276, -107.49638 into your driving app. The turnoff on CR-492 is about 22.6 miles from the US-64 junction with CR-4450.
The first three panels are near the 0.6 mile point of Rincon Largo Canyon. One is on the left side of the canyon and two are across the shallow wash on the right.
The first panel has 3 large figures. We've read that figures with square heads usually represent females.
One of the panels on the west side of the canyon is visible from the road. The other is a little further down the cliff. It only has 3 or 4 images with some graffiti scrawled over them.

The 3rd and 4th panels are another 800 feet up the road. They include several very nice Yei images, a large bird, and what we're thinking are 3 mountain lions and maybe a snake. One of the mountain lions has a spear through it and another has one above it as though ready to be pierced.
At the corner of the same cliff are these two images.
The last panel is down at ground level right next to the road. Parts of the image have disappeared along with the surface of the rock but it is obvious that it is another Yei figure.
